Apprenticeship and Training
Design Workshops is a union company and is committed to the training and advancement of our employees. Nearly every member of our team has participated in our 4-year apprentice carpenter or cabinet maker program, run by the carpenter’s union. As a result, our clients receive a uniform level of service at every level of interaction with Design Workshops. But more importantly, this creates a talented workforce that will advance the principles of practical construction for years to come.

Design Workshops Prize for Practical Construction
Design Workshops sponsors an annual juried grant through the UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design. Established in 2001, the prize recognizes student work that applies forward-thinking technology while retaining a focus on the practical aspects of construction.
