Tenderloin Center

Founded in 2002 by educator Ninive Calegari and author Dave Eggers, 826 Valencia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting under-resourced students with their writing skills. Housed in a former liquor store, the 5,200 sq ft Tenderloin Center is part retail, part mixed-used learning space, and part office. Dubbed a semi-secret society of woodland creatures and ocean-loving monsters, the space is a wonderland of quirky details, whimsical materials, and warmth.
